ACT-SO Enrichment Program

The Enrichment Program is a vital part of the NAACP ACT-SO program, because it forges partnerships with the community to promote academic excellence in our youth and creates opportunities for the students to excel in their field. In addition, students have the opportunity to sharpen their skills, gain more knowledge in their field, and meet and interact with professionals in their specified area of interest. The enrichment element can serve as way to encourage students who may have the talent but need the interaction and direction of the volunteers, coaches, role models and mentors to nurture it.

Each local ACT-SO program plans enrichment opportunities over the course of the year. The Enrichment Program offers the following activities which are beneficial to the improvement of the students:

  • Individual tutorial sessions
  • One-to-one mentoring
  • Site visits to educational and performance venues
  • Workshops (suggested topics)

The success of ACT-SO is due largely to the dedication of the ACT-SO local sponsoring unit adult volunteers, mentors and coaches. The local NAACP ACT-SO Committee is by far the most significant component to the success of the local ACT-SO program.
